What you have to do

Complete a full switch using the Current Account Switch Service, which closes your old account.
·
Pay in at least £1,000, in one or more payments.
·
Have at least 2 active direct debits, already collecting on the account you switch from, so they move across with the switch.
·
Make 1 debit card payment.
·
Do all of it within 28 days.
Who can’t get it
·
You can’t switch from a Nationwide / Virgin Money account to get this one.
·
You can’t have had a switch bonus from Nationwide / Virgin Money since 1 January 2021.
When it pays
As soon as about 10 days after the switch if you meet the conditions straight away, and up to 41 days if you use the whole window.
How to start the switch
If you switch into a Nationwide account you already have, money already in it does not count towards the £1,000. It has to arrive with the switch or be paid in afterwards.

Apply for a FlexDirect account on Nationwide’s switch page.

When it asks if you want to switch, choose “Yes”.

Enter the sort code and account number of the account you are leaving, and pick a switch date.

If you already have a FlexDirect, FlexAccount or FlexPlus that your salary does not go into, you can switch into that one instead, from Nationwide online banking. Never use the account you are paid into, because a later step switches this account away again.
